How to tell aunt about bad comments on myspace?
Q. Well I was joking around with a girl on myspace. Anyway, the conversation had some sexual jokes, and the girl got offended. She sent the message to my aunt. I am labeled as a good kid, and I know my aunt will be extremely disappointed. I sent my aunt an apology. Any advice on what I should do?

Aunt refuses to come to wedding because I am not marrying a jewish guy?
Q. My aunt is an orthodox jew. I was born and raised jewish but not to her extreme. I am going to be marrying my fiance in 10 months (he is catholic). My aunt refuses to come to my wedding because he's not jewish. Is religion is more important then family? I know it would be really important to my dad if she came because she's the only family that he has left. Can someone please explain this to me from her point of view? I'm not converting or anything. I think that this is stupid.

A. Very Orthodox Jews see a wedding to a non Jew as literally a death in the family. Often shiva will be sat. I was raised Reform and married a Catholic too. Our children are Jews. With the recent loss of so many in the Holocaust, we feel a need to make up the best we can for our floundering numbers. Perhaps a handwritten letter explaining to your Aunt how much you love her and a promise that you will run a Jewish household and have Jewish children, may put her mind at ease ? Otherwise, don't blame her.Just accept her decisions even if she can't accept yours. Congratulations.

A. Its a touchy subject. People that smoke pot adamantly swear that it has no bad effects and that it should be legal. People that have quit and know better, stated to medical journals: we quit because it made us paranoid, emotionally unstable and feeling incredibly neurotic. Most older people that have quit smoking pot make the same statements. She is not going to want to quit, for one reason: she hides in a fog so that she doesnt have to face reality, and she thinks what she is doing is ok. If you have a group of family members that could get together and sit down with her and get her to stop by intervening, great...otherwise, getting her to stop on her own wont be easy.
