How do you rate hip hop compared to other genres?
Q. I know hip hop catches a lot of hate from fans of other genres, but how does it hold up against them with you as hip hop fans? Do you think hip hop has made the same contributions to music as rock/pop/country whatever? What's the highest placing you would give a rapper on a list of all time musical greats of any genre?

Is hip hop dancing a good place to start for a beginner?
Q. I'm 18 and have had very little dance experience...is hip hop harder than other styles of dance? How easy is it to pick up the techniques and steps? I've seen some youtube videos of beginner classes and I also want to know how much content is typically in each class session as I think I'm slow at remembering steps. thanx!

I would think that hip hop dancing is mostly a do what you feel type of dancing...of course, you can learn some techniques to perfect what you already feel and want to do, but that's what sets hip hop dancing apart from other dance is the freedom and outlet it is for the untrained dancer...(when I say untrained, I am talking about, all of the formal training that ballet, jazz and tap dancers may have to endure)...Hip hop dancers just do what they do and make it look like its fun and easy, but I know that a very good looking routine takes a lot of practice and good choreography. Its like anything else, if you want to do it, just start. Take that first step and stop worrying so much about not doing it just right.

Q. Both have bright colors, tight jeans, tight shirts, bright shoes, and shirt styles. All I could see is the sagging skinny jeans, expensive kicks, and new era caps. My brother dresses like that, hip hop skinny jean lol but I think it looks more decent though than baggy jeans.

Can I start hip hop dance and be good enough by college?
Q. Im a junior in high school. im starting to take hip hop lessons at edge and really want to get good enough so i can join a dance group like nsu modern if i go to UCLA. or like kaba modern or cadc at UCI. Would i be able to get good enough to join by the time i graduate?

A. I'm going to be honest, if you're trying to dance, you're definitely starting off later than most people started who want to join intense hip-hop groups. That being said, it isn't unheard of of people working hard and joining those types of groups. You can definitely be good enough to join a group like that if you work hard. You need to go to a good dance studio specializing in hip-hop.(And you can tell how good they are by what there advanced classes look like). You need to practice constantly, get as many performances as you can, join a dance group (not a hard/intense one). What kind of hip hop would a stubborn metal head like?
Q. I can't stand the stuff, but I know it's naive to think the whole genre sucks. Mindless Self Indulgence is the only artist I like that even comes close to hip hop, but that's really stretching the definition. I'm normally a grindcore/mathcore fan. I need something with complexity. Any suggestions?

Mindless Self Indulgence is the only artist I like that even comes close to hip hop, but that's really stretching the definition. I'm normally a grindcore/mathcore fan. I need something with complexity. Any suggestions?

What can i do for a rap hip hop project to make it interesting?
Q. This is for school and i have to create a booth about rap and hip hop. I need to make it interesting though, and im not sure what ill do to make it creative. Please make any suggestions about what i can do and what music i can play that doesnt have that much cussing in it.

What are some good hip hop dance songs for middle school age?
Q. My friend and I are in eighth grade and she started a dance club and wanted me to help her teach it because we both take hip hop. I have some songs like lip gloss and whine up and easy and man eater but we need more to dance to. If you have any suggestions that would be awesome! THANKS! Also they cant be explicit because its 6-8 grade and there are adults in the room with us.

A. im in 8th grade and my hip hop class just finished a dance to move shake drop it worked out really well and evryone had a lot of fun weve also danced to cant touch this and ice ice baby these were fun too because theyre old but srill have a good rhythm hope this helps
