My house needs second story to be livable what to do?
Q. I have a 1 1/2 story house, what is the cheapest way the get the room upstairs livable, build the story up or a shed roof? What should I do? There is an addition tied to the roof that makes the kitchen longer I want the most living space out of my second story.

A. Why can you not make a liveable space in the upper floor. I live in a 1 1/2 story and we have livable space there. You just need to put the essintals...insulations, wallboard, flooring, and hvac. If you need more floor space...maybe consider doing a dormer on the front or back side so you can push out the walls of the rooms.

Is Jackson, Mississippi one of the most livable cities in the United States?
Q. I read on a website that says that Jackson, MS is one of the most livable cities in the US. However, I am concerned about the amount of resources that is aviable in the city such as the water, which I read that is polluted and over-chlorated, and the it does not have much as many of the major cities in the North and East Coast of the country. Nevertheless, I would like to see that Jackson and the rest of Mississippi be improved to be livable.

A. Through my time in the Navy I have lived in MS for about 6 months all together and have been to Jackson about 12 times. I would not say much about the city except I would never want to live there. Like any city I am sure there are good parts and bad, but what I saw of the city section myself I would choose someplace else to call home. I have also had numerous overnight stays in MS due to driving through MS for trips from one side of the country to another. My bet would be Meridian, MS. It is about an hour plus from Jackson and is a great city to live in and visit. They have a great mall, most of the normal chain restaurants you would find in any large American city and the best people ever. The county, I believe, the considered the… [cont.]

A. Most SoCal marinas have a limited number of live aboard slips, and a waiting list that sometimes goes for years. When I decided to live aboard a friend recommended that I move to Two Harbors on Catalina Island. I secured a job there and spent six years living aboard for free as an employee.

A. Yeah we've done it before, but learn from our mistakes. Hire a engineer to design what you need. You might want to put in a pop up edge to allow light in, or a couple of dormer's. The point I;m trying to make, if its wood you can do it. However you must sooner or later pass a inspection from your county, or city to make sure what you have done is safe and engineered properly. So do it the easy way and make a plan then work the plan Good Luck

A. you have to ask yourself is it livable...can you live down there ? it depends upon the ratio to floor space to window.is it a walk out basement ? if not then i would say no.if the reason your asking this question is because your thinking of selling the house and want to put down square footage then yes .its basically a judgement call.

should I be compensated for the days not livable im my new apt?
Q. I just moved in to my new apt a month ago. When i signed the lease on the 30th of August, I was promise that the apt. was going to ready the following monday, which was the 3rd, with a promise of a few things to be fixed. I never moved in till that Thursday, the 6th, because they did not finish the shower like promised along with some electrical problems in the kitchen, which the nevrer fixed untill the following week.I informed the management company about my late moving on, and they said, I would be compensated, but now it's the 1st of October and their invoice says, it's due for the full amount. I can't call them because their office is closed untill the October 8th.should i pay them all in full?
Asked by nikkinics - Mon Oct 1 11:33:07 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Technically speaking, if their office is closed how are they going to get your payment anyway? if they can be open to collect your payment, then they can be open to address your concern. Now then, if you did not have anything in writing stating that your rent will be prorated for the days you did not live there, then technically you would owe the full amount of rent. If they did put something in writing, then you have every right to prorate the months rent per the "written agreement" even if that was only until the third of the month. You may have to speak to them when they open back up regarding reimbursement. Good luck!

A. Wow. Some varied answers above. To Ross: I know quite a few people living on the Gold Coast and can assure you they're not "shallow". The various amusements built on the GC are for the benefit of tourists, not the locals. I've done a lot of travel around Australia, and generally found that most places are 'livable' and have a reason for being. Having said that, alas, I have a dislike for small country towns plonked in the middle of a flat, dry, hot, boring landscape, such as Narrabri and the like. Yes, I'm sure that the folk who inhabit such towns are wonderful, and they have a 'reason' for living there, but they are cordially welcome to it. Where like to live? A. I live in downtown Seattle and to me it's much more than simply a livable place. Here you get the metropolitan spirit of a big city (skyscrapers, Chinatown, public transportation, etc.) without being overwhelming and impersonal. If you can get past the clouds and rain, this city has tons of character, proud residents, and loads of diversity. Of course Seattle is known for it's coffee and grunge scenes. Local coffee shops are everywhere. City favorites for music are Easy Street Records and several bars in Georgetown known for live music. Art is a huge influence here. From culinary art to sculptures to architecture and grafitti, it's everywhere. We're pretty outdoorsy here, and those of us who live in the city love our parks. The best for… [cont.]

Q. Have we adapted to this planet by are bodies growing on it?
Asked by J N - Wed Oct 22 09:32:58 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Short answer: It may Take some time. Im sure that several years ago, scientists created a formula, using about 14+ factors: Distance from a star ( Not to Hot or Cold ) Magnetic Field ( Protect from solar Radiation ) Liquid Water ( sdpeaks for Itself ) Atmosphere ( To Breathe + Protect from meteorites etc. ) and a lot of others. But it takes Thousands of Years for light to travel the distance from our neighbouring star systems, and thats at the speed of light. So we have a lot of learning to do before we are able to visit any "Habitable Planets". See link. Hope that helps.

Is $20 an hour a livable wage for a single person?
Q. I used to think it was a fortune, but not in this day and age! Rent is through the roof in my area! Throw on top of that renter's insurance, gas, car payment, car insurance, student loans, debts, retirement accounts, investments, savings accounts and some money to have fun. All of a sudden, $20 an hour is not enough.

A. You have to make a shelter and then find food or make a fire. You could use the metal in the rocks to make sparks to set a handful of your hair on fire and then put it in some sticks to make a fire. That is if you can cut your hair with something. Maybe a sharp rock would work for this. Also you need to boil ocean water and use the salt left over from the water. If you have nothing to do this with you might be able to use a hollowed out rock, not sure about that.
