How can I buy mobile homes from FEMA?
Q. There are thousands of mobile homes that FEMA purchased for hurricane katrina relief sitting at an airport in Hope, AR. It looks as though they will not be able to use many of these homes. Are they going to sale these homes to attempt to recover some of thier cost. If so, how do I go about purchasing one or 20 of those mobile homes.

A. craigslist ( ) -- if you're unfamiliar with it, follow the link, find your state, then select your city. If your city's unavailable, select the closest one. Once there, find the section labeled housing, and follow the link labeled "real estate for sale". You can sift through manually, but they may be difficult to find so try running multiple searches once you get there in the search bar at the top. Search for 'mobile', then 'single wide' (or 'double wide' if you're looking for one of those) and 'trailer'. A. You will have to check the local/township ordinances on that. Some townships do not allow mobile homes at all. Contact them to find out the ordinances. It will be the same place that you pay the property tax.

Selling mobile homes on rented lots -> How does it work? Where should I advertise?
Q. I have a 1997 Liberty 14x52 mobile home in Missoula, Montana. The area is growing faster than imagineable and is a great university town. Payments are low and so is lot rent, but being a divorced single parent is difficult and has brought hardships which I'm recovering from. I know about eBay, but what are some other creative options? I don't want the responsibility of renting the house. I want to cut my ties with it and move on. What is the best option in trying to sell a mobile home when you don't earn a lot and would like to move to another state quickly? Professional real estate agent's suggestions are very welcome and highly recommended at answering this question.

Is a dealers licence necessary for mobile homes in Florida?
Q. I have been offered a number of mobile homes in Florida and would like to know if it is necessary to have a dealers licence to sell them. Paul
Asked by paulmcconnon - Fri Oct 5 17:53:43 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Each state has laws on the number of sales an individual can make per year and not be considered a dealer. I am not sure but if I were to guess I would say the number is 3. More than that would require a dealer's license. And if you do need a license you often have to have a commercial location with specific elements costing you more than are probably willing to pay.

what are the rules/laws regarding planning permission for mobile home and park homes in the uk?
Q. if i were to buy (or rent) a piece of land, probably in a rural area in the uk, would i be allowed to put a static caravan/mobile home/park home on there or would i need planning permission? also if i were to build my own basic structure from timber resembling a park home, what would the situation be with that one? i wouldn't be thinking of selling it so that is not a factor. many thanks
Asked by Dave - Fri Jun 5 09:21:48 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. you will need planning permission (even if you are a gypsy) you need to talk your local planning office.they normally have a duty officer who will advise you if you call in. development in the country is very constrained outside a settlement boundary. the Local Development Framework or Core Strategy will specify what they normally allow +where. one exception is if you are making charcoal and need to be on site 24-7. it depends on previous use of the site; number of visitors you expect; local services; road access ... There are also strict rules on materials and placement of park homes due to fire risks, gas canisters, and health issues of condence/damp and formaldahyde off-gassing

In Ireland is it legal for mobile homes to stay in residential areas?
Q. Theres this really dodgy looking mobile home on my road. Its painted black and the windows are covered with black curtains and its been there at least three weeks and i've never seen it move. Just today i've noticed another mobile home on my road. The first one was freaky enough but the second one has me worried they might start using it as a set down zone. Is it legal for them to stay there?

A. I don't know about on the road, but you can only have one on your own property for a certain number of months in the year - I think it is three - without planning permission. Ask your local gardai to check it out, and your council will be able to tell you what their regulations are.

A. This is a question only you can answer. Shop around, ask people, decide how much you want to spend, and the extras you want. They are all pretty much the same. The best thing to remember is you get exactly what you pay for. More importantly. check out the service performance. Even the best homes will have problems. The service department should be able to repair even the worst without problems.

Where can buyers go for financing on mobile homes on land in TN?
Q. Mobile home financing is sometimes very hard to find, some buyers have less than perfect credit, (640 and under). Looking for "financing for mobile homes" single wide and double wide already on land. Some homes listed are manufactured double wide homes with permanant foundation, others are single wide mobile on land. These were previously occupied homes and some are in need of repair. I would like to find more options for the buyer with less than perfect credit, (640 and under). I have talked with a few companies and this seems hard to find in TN. Does anyone have suggestions? When a mobile home park is being shut down, what happens to the people and their homes that live their?
Q. Do they pay you double for your home? The mobile home park is in Colorado if that matters.
Asked by mikehut123 - Tue Jul 18 12:26:15 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. My understanding is that the lots are rented out on a monthly or yearly basis. When it is shut down if they own the mobile home they will be required to move it to another location at their own expense. If they have paid rent in advance, then they should be reimbursed for that amount. If they are renting the mobile home and the lot, they will have to move out.

Could really use the opinion of someone who is familiar with building and renovating houses & mobile homes.?
Q. I live in a single-wide mobile home (mid 80's model if that counts), and part of the front wall is beginning to rot. The front part of the house is beginning to sink, and I can't get the front door completely. My mother has mentioned "jacking the house up" in the front. What does she mean by this, and how would I go about having it done? What kind of tools do I need? also what will it take to replace the entire front wall?

A. I'm in a mobile too. If I had the issues you describe, I'd look in the phone book or ask around and find someone who works on mobiles, who's familiar with them, get them in to assess what's going on, what needs to be done and how much it will cost, how fast you need to do it. The front wall rotting probably isn't a really big deal, that can probably be fixed by removing the siding and replacing what's rotted, and figuring out why it rotted and fixing that too. Most carpenters could do that no problem, but the door not closing properly would worry me a lot, along with the front of the house sinking. The door not closing sounds like something is really out of whack, and unless you know what you're doing it's better not to fool around with… [cont.]

People can make really great flatbed trailers out of them. However that said, it is not cheap, nor easy to do. The mobile home itself must be knocked off the trailer, and then all the bit and pieces cleaned up. All the insulation, and plastics must be hauled to the dump. The metals in the mobile home can be recycled. Taking the insulation, and plastics to the dump in King County is NOT cheap. Does your mobile home still have the axels, and tires under it? How many layers of roofing allowable in Az. on mobile homes prior to removal.?
Q. I've had two contractor quotes for removal and replacement of my mobile home roof. One states Az. law requires removal of old roof with only one layer while the other quotes Az. law allows two layers of roofing. This makes a difference in the over all costs. Please advise. Thank You.

A. according to the spec's of the maker of the shingles, we can only put one layer over another one time. this is owens corning and elk and all other major brands we use here in NC. call ur local building inspector and i know that he will tell u " what ever the manufacture suggest or say to install" will be his answer. ask both of the roofing contractors to show u in the book what is correct. lic. gen. contractor
